To all N.A.P.S. Team Members (and anyone wanting to apply), meet this coming Friday, October 22, at 7:30pm in the Conference Room of the Civil Defense Office in the basement of the Sheriff's Department building on State Street. The entrance is in the rear of the building. Parking on Wall Street is probably best. You can park on State, but you'll have to walk around to the back of the building. This is right next door to reportedly one of the most haunted sites in Natchez, the Old Adams County Jail. To see an interesting article about this site, click here. Directions: Go DOWN the concrete steps, take a left and enter the solid metal door (if you go UP the steps, that leads to the back door of the Sheriff's Offices). Come straight back to the conference room - can't miss it. Bring something to take notes with. See you there!
Natchez Ghosts: The Devil's Punchbowl is the official blog of N.A.P.S. - the Natchez Area Paranormal Society
Welcome to the Official BLOG of N.A.P.S. The purpose of this blog is primarily education & awareness. The name of this blog is NOT a glorification of Satan, whom we know to be a personal, evil being - a fallen angel as described in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (see CCC: 390-395; and 2850-2854). Rather, it is recognition that this world is the domain of the Evil One (2 Cor. 4:4) and that the Kingdom of Light is engaged in active battle against his kingdom of darkness (Eph. 6:12).
I've read the article in the paper regarding the Old Adams County Jail several times. I think they simply repeat it, or a very similar version of it, every year around Halloween. Still, it's interesting. When I think of places of unrest and unhappiness, a jail would definitely be in the top ten. Maybe we could investigate there sometime in the future?
ReplyDeleteYou're exactly right - this time of year is the only time of year the press thinks about paranormal things. The Old Jail, in fact, may end up being the first place we go. We're having trouble getting any response from King's Tavern. :(
ReplyDeleteHmmmm....I think my fiance knew the owners once upon a time - I could ask, and if he did, or still does, maybe he can pull some strings? No promises, But I'll check into it.
